We provide bikes and a guide - we don't fly planes, cook suppers, or prepare beds. Fortunately, the Gambia has many excellent companies who do. We'll connect you to them on our PARTNERS page. And we're happy to answer your questions via our INFORMATION REQUESTS page.
Our gambian partners
Musa can guide you right across the country - on one of the two good, paved highways that follow the two banks of the River Gambia, or, if you request one of his mountain-bikes, to any of the tiny villages accessible only by dirt roads. But he can't give you a bed or a supper, so we'd like to give you information about some of the Gambia's quality resorts and, below them, some restaurants and attractions. We're friends with all their staff, and they will be glad to help you fill out a Gambian cycling vacation.
Musa is happy to meet you with his bikes at any of these locations when you want to take a trip. He is also happy to include visits to any of these sites in a custom-designed tour to fit your holiday plans.
In addition to what's below, you can get overview information on Gambian vacations at these two good sites:

Treasures of West Africa The company is owned and run by Gambians, who will share a part of their life with you and take you inside the heart of the country. Our philosophy is giving back to the community. With us, you will meet local people working on small undiscovered projects, community activities and local schools programs. Our top priority is to change lives and protect the environment.
Gunjur Project Lodge is a relaxing little resort with a pool and near a vast beach, but it is also a community development project. Staff facilitate opportunities for guests to volunteer in the nearby villages and to learn about education, agriculture, and music from the locals – making sure that your holiday is good for you and for the Gambia too. Hotel Nemasu Eco-Lodge: "Nemasu", in the native Mandinka language, means "Sacred Place". It's a name that was developed by the local Gambians to describe this special place, just north of Kartong. From the world class beach, to the comfortable beds, to the fresh local fish and vegetables in their restaurant, you can't pick a better place to unwind, explore and become
familiar with African culture and lifestyle. Whether you rent a rustic tree-house or a cozy hut, if you stay at Boboi Beach Lodge you'll be sleeping just a stone's throw away from a beautiful beach, just north of Kartong. Accommodations are comfortable and clean, food is great and beer is cold. At Boboi you can get to know the people, places, history and legends of Kartong for an experience to last you a lifetime.
Situated just outside the unspoilt, tranquil village of Kartong on
the southern border of the Gambia, Halahin Lodge is a locally run,
eco-friendly lodge (with solar power) on a beautiful sandy beach. The
lodge is named after the river Halahin, which forms the border
between the Gambia and Senegal, and is ideal for a leisurely
excursion by pirogue (colourful, traditional dug-out canoe), for bird
watching or an excursion over the border into Senegal.
The lunch specials at Papillon Restaurant, Bar and Lounge are justly famous, but even aside from that the menu is extensive, focusing on Gambian and Thai dishes. Papillon's cool terrace, shaded by trees and bamboo, is a great place for meeting people.
Gaya Art Cafe is like an oasis of cool and calm amid the bustle of Senegambia, the heart of the Gambia's tourist industry. Their menu draws on flavours from the Mediterranean, Latin America and Asia, and their drinks menu is probably the country's most innovative and extensive. The comfortable and stylish décor features the work of local artists.
Tanje Village Museum, the first private museum in The Gambia, presents the ethnographic and natural history of the country, giving visitors an opportunity to learn about local musical instruments, handicrafts, and modern history. Outside the museum buildings are 20,00 square metres of the Gambia's flora and fauna, with 60 different plant species, welcoming you to relax awhile.
Gambian Reptile Farm: Inside a well preserved forest, near Kartong beach, you can visit a collection of Gambian reptiles: snake, chameleons, turtles, lizards and others animals. You can touch them, too, if you like, and feel a 2-metre python around your neck! All the reptiles will be presented by an experienced herpetologist that will answer all the questions that you can ask.
